“This is Trans” Photography Journey

I recently visited This is Trans, the beautiful and powerful all-ages photography journey by NV Gay people high was on display in Westerville courtesy of LOVEboldly. Intended to educate the public about the various gender identities and expressions found under the transgender umbrella, the photo collection will travel to Cleveland, Franklinton, Virginia, New York, and Wisconsin.

To date, more than 150 transgender people have been photographed for this exhibit. Participants answer the question "What does being transgender mean to you?" Here are some responses:

"There is so much beauty in being genuine to yourself."

"Being trans is my greatest source of joy."

"Being transgender means being me."

"Being transgender means that I have been privileged to have had the experience to see life from two different sides of the spectrum..."

"For me, being transgender, as well as agender, means I'm someone who has freed myself from internal & external restrictions in dressing how I choose, speaking how I feel, & receiving love as my authentic & free self."

Artist NV Gay (they/them) is a transgender photographer and digital artist living in Columbus. They focus their work on activism, raising awareness and empowering marginalized communities and individuals.
